Valerie Dee Naranjo
Traditional Native American song is much more than entertainment. It is used to heal maladies of the mind, body, and spirit of the entire community. Valerie Dee Naranjo, M.A., has sung in schools, community centers, and substance abuse clinics on the Navajo reservation. She sang and drummed with the Native American women's group Ulali and has arranged, performed, and recorded with Philip Glass, David Byrne, Selena, Tori Amos, and Hugh Masekela, and for the musical The Lion King.
